West Ham United: Match of the Day pundits says David Moyes looks 'drained' after Palace defeat

West Ham manager David Moyes will "not be happy" after his side were thumped 5-2 by Crystal Palace in the Premier League, according to Mark Chapman and Phil Jagielka.

The Hammers boss was described as "shattered" in the wake of his side's defeat at Selhurst Park, which saw them go 4-0 down inside the opening 31 minutes.

It's a second consecutive Premier League defeat for West Ham, who also exited Europe earlier this week despite pushing Bayer Leverkusen to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.

Following the Scot's post-match interview, Chapman said on Match Of The Day 2 (21 April): "David Moyes looked shattered at the end there. They're still top half, they got into the latter stages of Europe, yet it doesn't feel great around there."

Jagielka added: "He does look drained, and it's been a draining week for them, to go against Leverkusen. They're struggling to get their form and it'll grate on him."

"The good performances have been really good, but the bad performances, as you've seen today, David Moyes will not be happy with."

Will West Ham United sack David Moyes?

West Ham will be looking to put a week from hell behind them, after seeing their chances of reaching Europe for the fourth successive season falter on multiple fronts.

While it was always going to be a tough ask to beat Bayer Leverkusen in their Europa League quarter-final - a side who are yet to lose a match in any competition this season - their efforts to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit only yielded a 1-1 draw and has seen their Premier League form wilt as a consequence.

The Irons were lackadaisical in their 2-0 home loss to Fulham on April 14, and downright woeful at Selhurst Park, particularly in the first half as Crystal Palace scored four goals with minimal difficulty.

As Chapman stated on MOTD2, West Ham are still eighth in the Premier League table, just two points behind the top six, but unless the under-fire Moyes can turn things around at the London Stadium, their hopes of playing in Europe next season are looking less likely with every passing week.
