West Ham United learn perfect next manager if Julen Lopetegui sacked
West Ham should have hired Graham Potter instead of the "vanity appointment" of Julen Lopetegui this summer, Jason Cundy has said.
Speaking on talkSPORT (9 November, 5:37pm), Cundy, Jamie O'Hara and a Hammers fan debated why the club had landed on Lopetegui as the supposedly ideal replacement for David Moyes in the summer.
Cundy believes Potter is a perfect fit for the Irons, and still would be if Lopetegui was to be sacked in the coming weeks by David Sullivan.
He said: “It’s a vanity appointment, that’s what it is. They’ve been seduced again by the fact that he was at Real Madrid.
"You talk about out-of-work managers – Graham Potter? Graham Potter is a perfect fit for West Ham!”

After the Irons struggled to a dismal 0-0 draw with Everton at the London Stadium, it's hard to argue that the club didn't make an error when deciding Lopetegui was the man to succeed David Moyes.
The Hammers were aimless in attack and passive in defence, with very few green shoots other than an industrious performance at both ends from new signing Crysencio Summerville.
Summerville is one of the very few new arrivals at the London Stadium to have made an impact so far this season, with Lopetegui not getting the most out of the majority of his players and hardly using others.
Potter's demise at Chelsea came in the wake of a plethora of big-money transfers in the January 2023 window, but with a much more malleable squad in East London, the 49-year-old could work wonders.
It remains to be seen if and when the Hammers hierarchy will pull the trigger on Lopetegui's time in charge, but fans will be hoping that a better decision is made on a certain out-of-work Englishman if his under-pressure counterpart is given the boot.
