West Ham are interested in a January transfer move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their website on 31 December that Zirkzee is among several transfer targets for the East London club, naming Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke and Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy among other options.

A striker seems to be the priority for David Moyes, and Zirkzee has emerged as one of the names in contention after an impressive season in Serie A.

Zirkzee moved from Bayern Munich to Bologna on a permanent deal in the summer of 2022 and has since appeared 41 times for the Italian club, scoring ten goals and providing four assists, with seven goals in 18 games so far this season.

After a disappointing first year in Italy, he looks to have found his feet and provided a consistent source of goals starting as the main striker with Bologna flying to fifth in the league, helping them to results against Inter Milan, Roma, Napoli and Juventus already this season.

Given his form and importance to the success of his team, any deal with West Ham would likely come at a big price, but the desire to bring a new striker to East London could inspire them to get the deal done.

Since Gianluca Scamacca left the club in the summer, the Hammers have been looking for a new forward with both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings struggling to impress, while Jarrod Bowen has been used as a makeshift number nine.
