Alan Shearer has savaged West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips in the 4-3 defeat against Newcastle on Saturday, 30 March.

The England international came on with the Hammers in the lead but made a number of errors and ended up costing his side the game.

This was certainly not what David Moyes would've had in mind when he opted to bring him off the bench.

Shearer said on the post-match show on the world feed (30 March, 14:53): "Far too easy from Kalvin Phillips. David Moyes will be apoplectic in the dressing room. You can't allow anyone to go past you that easy."

West Ham must not sign Phillips

Phillips joined the Hammers on loan from Manchester City with hopes of proving his worth and securing a permanent deal.

However, his performances have fallen short of expectations and the match against Newcastle highlighted his struggles.

Despite being brought on with the Hammers in the lead, Phillips made costly errors, allowing Newcastle to capitalise and snatch victory from the Hammers' grasp.

His inability to prevent opponents from easily bypassing him reflects poorly on his defensive capabilities, leaving Moyes understandably frustrated.

Phillips' underwhelming displays raise doubts about his suitability for a permanent move to the Irons.

The loan spell was meant to showcase his talents and convince the club of his value, but instead, it has only highlighted his shortcomings.

With each disappointing performance, the likelihood of the Hammers extending his stay diminishes.
