Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor have told Jarrod Bowen he's done "nothing wrong" at West Ham United after he was left out of the England squad.

Having been a regular fixture in Gareth Southgate's Three Lions side over the last year or so, the Hammers skipper was left out of Lee Carsely's squad for the October fixtures, having been picked in September.

While some have been quick to suggest the attacker hasn't been at his best this season, talkSPORT pundits Agbonlahor and Brazil were baffled as to what he had done to deserve his snub.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday (9 October, 6:10) Agbonlahor said: "Also Al, Jarrod Bowen is not in the England squad, missed out.

"What did he do against your boys? Two assists, one goal."

Brazil replied: "I was going to say, he's done nothing wrong actually."

Agbonlahor responded: "He was outstanding in that game so he'll be one who is trying to get back in next month's squad. But that's what you want as a manager, loads of competition."

Why was West Ham star Jarrod Bowen left out of the England squad?

Bowen may not have been at his best so far this term, but the England international certainly sent Carsley a new message with his goalscoring display against Ipswich at the London Stadium this weekend.

The forward may not be the most eye-catching of attackers available to the Three Lions but he is easily one of the most consistent in front of goal. When it comes to major tournaments and important qualifiers, that record is going to be incredibly important.

Carsley has already shown that he is willing to call up different players if they are performing well domestically. As long as Bowen continues to perform as he did against the Tractor Boys, it won't be long until he is back in the international squad.

Hopefully, Julen Lopetegui will continue to get the best out of the 27-year-old after the international break.

After a slow start to the Spaniard's tenure in East London, it feels like things are starting to click into gear for Bowen and the new Hammers boss.
