TalkSPORT's Adrian Durham owes West Ham an apology after his comments advising Jarrod Bowen to leave the club.

West Ham overcame Newcastle United on Monday night [25 November] with a 2-0 win after putting in a solid display.

Bowen played the full 90 minutes and was able to provide the assist for Aaron Wan-Bissaka's goal in the 53rd minute.

However, during the commentary of last night's game, Durham didn't hold back in his analysis of the 27-year-old's position at the London Stadium as he said on TalkSPORT: "Jarrod Bowen, you need to leave this club mate. He's basically an auxiliary full back. He's wasted at this club, absolutely wasted. He was linked to Liverpool in the summer and now he's playing in a team like this."

Bowen proves he can shine at West Ham

It was almost as though Durham's first-half comments proved to be the force that pushed Bowen's Hammers side on in the second half as they went on to show a very professional display to secure three points.

What's more, it was the 27-year-old himself who was able to provide the assist for his side's second goal as he put a neat pass through to Wan-Bissaka in the box to neatly put away.

Therefore, his contribution in addition to a well-rounded performance showed that the fan favourite still has plenty of opportunities to be his best in Claret and Blue.

That being said, Julen Lopetegui's side needs to keep their standards high now and produce these kinds of performances on a more regular basis.

At 27-years-old, Bowen will need to start thinking about where he has the best prospects if he wants to fulfil his full potential and although last night showed that is still possible, there could continue to be calls for him to push himself away from the London Stadium if the chances to stand out here at too irregular.
