West Ham: Matt Le Tissier slams 'embarrassing' Jarrod Bowen faux pas live on talkSPORT
Matt Le Tissier could not help but laugh at a faux pas made involving West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen live on talkSPORT.
Bowen was one of the highest-profile omissions from England's squad for the upcoming World Cup.
The 29-year-old was made to pay for a dreadful campaign for club side West Ham.
Despite the Hammers going down, Bowen came away with some credit as he scored nine goals and assisted 11 more.
That was not enough to convince Thomas Tuchel, however, with Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Marcus Rashford competing for the wide positions.
Bowen will not be in the United States, then, but that fact was lost on some.
Alan Pardew fails to point out Jarrod Bowen howler
The debate over who Tuchel should select to start against Croatia will rumble on for a while longer yet.
Everyone has an opinion, but what can be agreed on - obviously - is that Bowen will play no part.
However, in a debate on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, former West Ham boss Pardew and DJ Majestic debated whether Bowen should get the nod over Saka.
That did not pass Le Tissier by as he posted on X, along with laughing face emojis: "Slightly embarrassing moment on talkSPORT just now with Maj and Pards discussing the possibility of Bowen taking Saka's place for five mins.
"Then a caller rang in to remind them Bowen isn’t in the squad."
An embarrassing moment it may have been, but in many ways it's another sign of how absurd it is Bowen is not going.
Nuno Espirito Santo to be quietly pleased
Every manager will publicly say how pleased they are to see their players represent their national sides, whether at the World Cup or otherwise.
Secretly, though, they must take delight in knowing key men are resting up - especially over the summer months.
Bowen had a successful individual campaign, even if not his best in a West Ham shirt, but there are doubts over his future.
He certainly will not push for a move away, so it will likely come down to what interested teams are willing to offer.
In the best-case scenario of Bowen staying, Nuno will know he will be fit and raring to go come the start of pre-season.
And in that scenario, Championship defenders should be very worried indeed.
