Hertha Berlin could sell West Ham target Niklas Stark if an equivalent replacement is available in January, according to German media outlet Fussball Transfers.

The centre-back, who is a full Germany international, has been linked with a move away from the club as a possible step up in his career.

Stark, 26, could be charmed into a move to the Premier League and should the offer be good enough and a replacement available, the German side could be open to letting him go.

West Ham

Must sign

Angelo Ogbonna's season-ending injury has thrown a spanner in the works for David Moyes and the Hammers.

They were looking in such great shape with everyone performing to the best of their abilities.

However, the Italian's injury could see West Ham turn to sign a centre-back in the January transfer window.

Hertha BSC coach Pal Dardai is understood to be a huge fan of Stark and has waxed lyrical about his leadership attributes as well.

West Ham

He said of the 26-year-old in August, via Buli News, "Nik Stark is a fantastic defender and our second captain."

A move to the Premier League and a club challenging for a Champions League berth should be seen as a step up for Stark.

Playing alongside Kurt Zouma could help both the players win back their places for their respective international sides.
