West Ham included sell-on clause in Xande Silva's sale to Nottingham Forest
West Ham have reportedly included a sell-on clause in the deal that saw Nottingham Forest sign attacker Xande Silva on transfer deadline day.
According to Claret & Hugh, the Hammers insisted on a sell-on clause which means they will get 25% of any profit on the Portuguese winger should he be sold in the coming years.
He was sold for a paltry £200,000 despite signing for £1.3million with a further £1.7million of potential add-ons from Vitoria S.C in 2018.
Wise move
West Ham have made plenty of transfer blunders in the past and it's fair to add Silva's name to that list as well.
He was signed for a relatively big fee, given the fact that he was seen as an Under-23s player before he could challenge for a first-team berth.
While he managed to make a handful of senior appearances, he was never rated that highly by the decision-makers at the club.
This is primarily why they took such a heavy hit on his sale and sold him for virtually nothing.
Adding a sell-on clause was salvaging something from what was otherwise a lost cause.
The hope is that the 24-year-old fares decently at Forest so they can sell him for a relatively decent amount which would see some money going into the club's coffers in the future.
