West Ham United are set to discuss transfer terms with Jhon Arias's entourage and it exposes everything wrong with Tim Steidten.

Wilson Pimentel of RTI Esporte reported on 20 November that the Fluminense winger's staff are travelling to Europe to listen to offers from the Irons and Galatasaray.

The Hammers need to strengthen their ranks in the January transfer window as they sit fourteenth in the Premier League, but Steidten needs his head checked if he thinks Arias is an ideal addition.

It was David Sullivan who hired Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes [talkSPORT] and they must take responsibility for the East London outfit's ongoing struggles.

However, Steidten must not be exempt from any criticism as his transfer business in the summer has left much to be desired.

The technical director oversaw the recruitment as they spent over £100million on nine new players, including Niclas Fullkrug, Luis Guilherme and Guido Rodriguez [The Guardian].

Splurging £27million on a 31-year-old Fullkrug, who has clocked 63 minutes of league action, was perhaps his biggest mistake [BBC].

While Fullkrug has struggled for fitness since his arrival at the London Stadium, all three of the Irons' strikers are in their 30s.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, meanwhile, have scored just two goals between them this season and it is as clear as daylight that the team is in dire need of a younger striker.

Steidten is instead targeting a 27-year-old winger playing in Brazil in the shape of Arias. No wonder the German is under increasing pressure at West Ham [TBR Football].
