West Ham United will host Premier League side Fulham at London Stadium on Tuesday, as they look to keep their momentum building.

In a way, this is the Hammers' first real test since being relegated from the top flight last season.

In their first games of the Carabao Cup, West Ham did not face any Premier League side, with games against Portsmouth and Southampton.

So, a fixture against a current top-flight side will show where Nuno's squad are at during their push for promotion.

With the game being at home, the Hammers do have an advantage with the supercomputer having West Ham as slight favourites.

West Ham can still compete against Premier League sides

As stated this is the Irons' biggest test to date since dropping into the Championship.

A win against the Cottagers will provide a resounding lift of belief, and prove that the Premier League is where the East Londoners belong.

The Irons do have a winning all-time record against Fulham, with 46 wins to the Premier League outfit's 33 in 101 fixtures.

Twenty-two draws make up the difference.

Show that Nuno can trust his fringe players

West Ham have built a fairly strong Championship squad, with a number of options at Nuno Espirto Santo's disposal.

The Portuguese manager needs to prove he trusts those within his team rather than just his favourites.

The Championship season is a long one, with 46 games throughout the campaign.

Using the squad to the best of his ability will ultimately be key to maintaining a quality roster of players for promotion.

Most of them may not be used to playing this number of games per season.

The summer signings proving their worth for West Ham

While West Ham have plenty to prove against Fulham, so do many of their new arrivals.

For most of them, they will have limited experience at the top flight, and while they may prove to be key this campaign, they will have next season to consider.

Players such as Edvin Austbo, Divine Mukasa, Joel Piroe and Arne Engels need to show they can compete against the top sides in England.
