The one-word message West Ham's Kyle Walker-Peters had for Jude Bellingham after England thriller
West Ham United defender Kyle Walker-Peters has summed up Jude Bellingham's England performance against Mexico in one, fitting word.
The 29-year-old West Ham right-back appears to have been watching on in the early hours of Monday morning, as England beat Mexico 3-2 at the Azteca.
Bellingham sent the Three Lions on their way with a first-half brace, with his goals coming two minutes apart from one another before half-time.
Walker-Peters has been capped by England twice at senior international level, appearing in friendly wins over Switzerland and the Ivory Coast in March 2022.
Now 29 and a Championship player once again, Walker-Peters' chances of adding further England caps to his CV look slim.
However, that isn't stopping him from getting firmly behind the Three Lions on their World Cup campaign, and he's left a message of praise to England's midfield maestro who he once shared a dressing room with.
Kyle Walker-Peters applauds Jude Bellingham's latest England display
Harry Kane aside, there is perhaps no player who consistently turns up for England in the biggest moments than Bellingham has done over recent years.
Still, somehow, just 23-years old, the Real Madrid magician has now scored four goals at this summer's World Cup, as well as chipping in with a vital assist against Panama to boot.
Without him, England would already be packing their bags for the flight home, but so long as he's out there, the Three Lions will always feel equipped to win any battle.
In truth, there simply aren't enough superlatives to describe the young attacking midfielder, but West Ham's Walker-Peters found one to accurately describe him as a player, and his display in the Azteca.
Taking to his Instagram account shortly after the full-time whistle blew in Mexico City, Bellingham wrote: "A win for the ages at the Azteca. This team! These fans!
"Let your boss know you won’t be making it in tomorrow."
Many players responded to Bellingham's post, one of which being Walker-Peters, who accompanied with a clapping hands emoji, commented: "Outrageous!"
The Walker-Peters England irony staring West Ham fans in the face
Had you asked even the most biased of West Ham fans if they could envision Walker-Peters starting a quarter-final match for England at the World Cup this summer, they all would've said no.
The experienced full-back was far from the Hammers' worst player last season, but he wasn't their best either, and he has at no point appeared to have entered Thomas Tuchel's thinking.
However, the Three Lions boss is now facing a crisis situation at the right-back spot, with Reece James injured, Jarell Quansah suspended and him seemingly not having complete faith in Djed Spence, respectfully.
As a result, if James isn't fit to play against Norway on Saturday, then Tuchel will be forced to go with one of Spence, Ezri Konsa or perhaps even Declan Rice to fill the right-back spot.
Remarkably then, there's probably a very good chance that if Walker-Peters was in this England team, he would be Tuchel's best option to start against the Norwegian's in Saturday's quarter-final in Miami.
