West Ham will be eager to head into the looming international break on a positive note.

West Ham face Arsenal at The Emirates on Saturday in what will be one of the toughest games of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo has made a good impression of himself already, as West Ham battled from behind to take a point at Everton on Monday.

Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a move away from West Ham this summer, but is thought to be crucial in Nuno's plans.

Now, a new update on the Brazilian midfielder will have the new Hammers boss anxious for the next couple of weeks.

West Ham's Lucas Paqueta called up to Brazil squad

As per West Ham's official website on 2 October, Paqueta has been called up for Brazil's upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

Paqueta has regularly played for the Brazil national team in the last couple of years and has done well in yellow and blue.

The number 10 seems back to his best for West Ham after a turbulent year or so at the London Stadium.

  • Paqueta has played 57 times for Brazil scoring 12 goals
  • The midfielder already has 3 goals from 7 games for West Ham this season
  • He played 89 minutes in Nuno's first game in charge

West Ham favourite Paqueta has had trouble off the pitch, but those issues now seem to be in the past as he looks focused on the pitch once more.

Despite Mateus Fernandes' arrival, Nuno will still be hoping Paqueta can avoid injury while away with Brazil.

Paqueta holds keys for West Ham under Nuno Espirito Santo

Wherever Nuno has gone, he has always had a standout midfielder who has helped his sides to success. At Wolves it was Ruben Neves, and last year at Nottingham Forest, Morgan Gibbs-White was the first name on his teamsheet.

Paqueta could have the same affect under Nuno at West Ham after he impressed once again against Everton.

Paqueta's dribbling and vision are second to none in the West Ham squad, and if given the freedom to express himself once again, Nuno's side could soon fly up the table.
