Nayef Aguerd now unlikely to play again for West Ham United

Nayef Aguerd may now never play for West Ham again as an update has emerged on him ahead of the Manchester City clash.

The Hammers travel to the Etihad Stadium for the Premier League title decider on 19 May and the Morocco international remains a major doubt for that one.

The 28-year-old has been missing in action for a month with his last game coming in the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League back in April.

Ahead of the City game on Sunday, an injury expert exclusively told West Ham Zone on 15 May: "There is a good chance that one of Aguerd or Mavropanos are ahead of the other in terms of recovery based on the injury specifics and how they’re responding to rehab.

“We obviously aren’t privy to those details.

“At this point, I would say it’s unlikely for either to feature on the final day.

“Should either of them show positive signs in training over the next 24-48 hours, then perhaps a late fitness test may be on the cards.“

West Ham may be tempted to cash in on Nayef Aguerd

The Athletic wrote on 17 May that the Morocco centre-back may be among eight first-team players leaving the London Stadium in the summer.

If Aguerd's return against City is unlikely and if he is to be shipped off in the summer, then he'll perhaps never play for the senior side again.

The 28-year-old was not a Tim Stiedten signing and it remains to be seen what Julen Lopetegui's assessment of the defender is.

Aguerd still has three more years left on his deal at the London Stadium so the Hammers will be entitled to demand a significant fee for his services.
