West Ham midfielder Lewis Orford is set to seal a loan exit ahead of the transfer deadline.

Orford has performed brilliantly in the West Ham Academy over the last few years, registering 17 goal contributions in 29 matches last season.

Orford made his Premier League debut in January against Crystal Palace and followed that up with another appearance as a substitute against Chelsea in February.

But now, he will head out for valuable experience.

Stevenage set to sign Lewis Orford

The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg has reported that Orford will play for Stevenage this season, with a loan move about to be completed.

Orford, who was part of West Ham's Conference League win in 2022/23, will play football for a different club for the first time in his career, as Graham Potter looks to help the young prospect's development.

He has been a prolific midfielder throughout his time in the academy and is now en route to complete his move to Stevenage.

Orford has broken into the England U19 squad, and he scored his first goal for his country against Bulgaria in November.

It looks to be an incredibly smart move from Stevenage, and Orford will be joining a dressing room that is full of confidence.

Lewis Orford joins high-flying Stevenage

Orford's development may accelerate as he joins a side that is second in League One.

Alex Revell's Stevenage have won five out of their opening six matches and sit just one point behind league leaders Cardiff City.

West Ham fans will be hoping that Orford plays a big role in Stevenage's season, with the Hertfordshire club looking to gain promotion to the second tier of English football for the first time ever.
