Konstantinos Mavropanos must maintain Greece form v Ireland to keep West Ham starting role

Konstantinos Mavropanos must put in a positive performance for Greece against Ireland on Tuesday 10 September to keep his West Ham starting role.

The 26-year-old put in a stellar performance in the first Nations League game of this international break with a 3-0 win against Finland.

The Hammers star kept up the excellent form that has seen Julen Lopetegui keep trust in him at the heart of defence, despite additions made during the transfer window.

Jean-Clair Todibo came in from OGC Nice in a highly anticipated move but has failed to land a start in the Premier League in the opening the games.

The Irons had to fend off interest from top sides like Juventus to land his signature [Sebastien Vidal] but the Spanish manager is yet to put his trust in the ex-Barcelona man.

This has been mainly down to the excellent start to the campaign for Mavropanos who has performed well alongside Max Kilman.

The former Arsenal star has carried this form into the international break with a clean sheet in The Blues and Whites' opening game.

Looking ahead to Tuesday (10 September), the 26-year-old will want to put in another positive showing against the Republic of Ireland.

There will be a chance that Lopetegui looks to integrate Todibo into the side in the upcoming games against Fulham and Chelsea.

This could be done at the expense of the Greece international but with another positive international appearance, he could delay this swap and keep himself in the starting XI.
