Jose Mourinho has spoken out on what London still means to him as talk surfaces of a potential move to West Ham United.

The former Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham boss - now in the Turkish Super Lig with Fenerbahce - further hinted at a return to England while on Sky Sports News on Monday [28 October].

Mourinho's potential of joining West Ham has been discussed in the media of late following a shaky start for Julen Lopetegui, who will breathe a huge sigh of relief after the win over Man United on Sunday [27 October].

"I've been so, so lucky to live in so many beautiful countries and cities, such as Istanbul, Rome, Madrid and Milan," the 61-year-old told Sky Sports News [28 October].

"But my family lives in London - it's home. One day I have to be back, unless nobody wants me."

Many factors would be at stake to decipher to even prevent this one from being a non-starter, though Mourinho has posed his comments to illustrate the idea he is available if anyone wants him.

The Premier League and European glory has been boxed off; the salaries he has earned down the years go beyond what David Sullivan would be likely to offer, and the Irons have recently adopted a model which takes recruitment out of the head coach's hands, which may not suit Mourinho.

However, having taken charge of two of London's biggest clubs, the Portuguese fell in love with the English capital. Barring a very unlikely return to Chelsea or Spurs - or an unimaginable stint at Arsenal - the Irons could pose a suitable challenge.

Interestingly, Mourinho claimed after his red card against former side Man United in the Europa League on 24 October, he would prefer to work outside of UEFA competitions in his next role [The Guardian, 25 October].

He has only been at Fenerbahce for a matter of months, but if there is one man capable of surprising us all, it's Mourinho.
