Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist 'staggered' by Jarrod Bowen development at West Ham
Jarrod Bowen's future has taken most of the headlines at West Ham this summer.
The 29-year-old signed an upgraded contract in July, that contains a release clause if the Hammers do not win promotion.
That was supposed to end speculation about a potential London Stadium exit.
However, Crystal Palace have been linked with a £50million bid for the Englishman.
It is the latest developments on the pitch that have left Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist baffled, though.
The Irons lost to Charlton in their home Championship opener, and one particular aspect had the pundits shocked.

The talkSPORT hosts could not understand why Jarrod Bowen did not take the penalty which could have earned Nuno Espirito Santo's side a point.
Taty Castellanos stepped up and he hit the post, meaning that the E20 side walked away with nothing from the contest.
Speaking on the platform on Monday morning (6:54am), McCoist said: “I’m staggered at that. Surely Bowen takes that penalty?
“It is not with hindsight - it’s easy with hindsight - but you’re thinking ’really important penalty, get ourselves a draw'.
“I couldn’t understand it. There must be a reason for it, surely?”
Stelling also raised another contender, saying: “I fail to understand it. Joel Piroe is on the pitch as well, who had already scored.”
Nuno's response after the game will be the most worrying thing for supporters, though.

Nuno was asked who the penalty taker was this season, and his response was ridiculous.
He said: “We trust Taty to take the penalties.
The Portuguese boss followed up on whether Castellanos is the regular taker, saying: “I don't know, for the next game we have to decide.”
The fact that the manager does not know who his penalty taker is, after being in charge for almost a year, is bizarre.
That should set alarm bells ringing for Hammers supporters, as it is a truly strange answer.
They need to have an established penalty taker, and it should be Bowen, as he has proven to be able to keep his nerve from 12 yards out.
He is the most reliable player in the squad, and there is no question that he should be the penalty taker going forward.
It is something that needs sorting out as soon as possible, so the same confusion does not happen again, leading to another penalty miss.
There is still time for the East London side to turn their season around, and earn promotion back to the top flight, but it is easy to see why fans would be worried.
