How Jean-Clair Todibo became complete 'enigma' away from West Ham United
Jean-Clair Todibo will always be remembered for all of the wrong reasons at West Ham United.
There was excitement around his signing when first arriving at the London Stadium.
In reality, it has been the complete opposite for the Hammers, who were happy to get rid.
After his very public fallout with Nuno Espirito Santo last season, Todibo was left in the dark as West Ham were relegated from the Premier League.
Now on loan at RC Lens, it may have gotten even worse.
Lens are not happy with Jean-Clair Todibo
After missing out on several months of action last season, the defender has lost all fitness and conditioning.
That says more about him than West Ham, given Rush Green was available and he should have looked after himself.
Allez Lens have taken to their website in the past week to call Todibo simply a "ghost" and an "engima".
The fan-run media account share how coaching staff at Lens actually put the defender on a "drastic" training programme for his fitness.
With Champions League football also on offer at the Ligue 1 club, it looks very clear that he can't handle the demands of that already.
Signed as defensive cover was desperately needed, he's only making things worse, it seems, with his training plan not working quickly.
The numbers behind Todibo's demise
Even just one glance at his minutes this season tells you that this isn't working for either party now.
Todibo becoming somewhat of a ghost figure is all his own doing.
The defender hasn't completed 90 minutes yet, and has only gone past 45 minutes once in his handful of appearances.
Only making three appearances since signing , Todibo has completed 140 minutes.
Some players do more than that in the space of three-to-four days in England.
There's only one way to turn this around, and that all starts with simply becoming fit, the first requirement of any footballer.
Lens are in Champions League action against Club Brugge on Wednesday, before welcoming Paris FC on Saturday evening.
These are the types of games Todibo was signed for, and if he can't get himself ready for either, this loan move is only ending one way, quickly.
