How Jarrod Bowen could make new history in West Ham vs Southampton
Jarrod Bowen will be eyeing a new personal milestone in West Ham's clash with Southampton.
The Hammers captain will be looking for all three points, to continue the promotion push.
However, he will also be looking to achieve a new feat, specifically involving Saturday's opposition.
Obviously, the sides have met quite a few times in the Premier League, but the latest meeting could have a say on the second tier promotion race.
The Saints are pushing their way up the table, just six points off the top of the pile, after 11 matches.
Meanwhile, the Hammers are just one point of the summit of the division, sitting in second place after overcoming a tough start to the campaign.
How Jarrod Bowen could set a record in West Ham vs Southampton
If Bowen scores in the contest, he will set a new piece of history in the clashes with the south coast club.
The West Ham star has notched four goals in his appearances against the St Mary's outfit, which is level for the record in the fixture.
He currently shares it with Hammers icons such as Mark Noble, Marko Arnautovic, Michail Antonio and Freddie Kanoute.
If Bowen gets himself on the scoresheet, he will be the outright record holder, and not share it anymore, as he would have five goals.
Danny Murphy described the ex-Hull star as "incredible" in November 2025, and if he takes the record as his own against Tonda Eckert's team, that would only add to his legacy.
What records could Kyle Walker-Peters reach against Southampton?
Kyle Walker-Peters could also join an exclusive club in the contest, although it is not as illustrious as Bowen.
The right-back could become one of the players with the joint-most bookings in the contest.
Right now, Walker-Peters is on three, all of which were picked up when he was playing for the Saints.
If he is cautioned, and reaches four, he will join the likes of Francis Benali, Oriol Romeu and Jan Bednarek in the record books.
Walker-Peters will not want to achieve that milestone, unlike Bowen, who will want to score and take the lead for scorers in the clash.
The defender also needs two assists to match Pablo Fornals' four assists, which are a record in the fixture.
His previous two came against the E20 side, in his time with the SO14 side, so they will be glad he is now on their side.
