Graham Potter will be livid after the latest announcement involving West Ham.

The Hammers started their season in miserable fashion, with West Ham losing 3-0 to newly-promoted Sunderland on the opening day.

Jarrod Bowen has called on his teammates to step up and bounce back in West Ham's clash with Chelsea on 22 August.

However, Potter may have bigger worries on his plate at the London Stadium.

West Ham matches selected for Sky Sports coverage

West Ham have been the subject of a new announcement from the Premier League, and it may not go down well.

The Hammers confirmed that two of their October matches have been selected for broadcast on Sky Sports.

The home match with Brentford on 20 October and the away clash with Leeds on 24 October will both be shown on the platform.

Potter will be furious with the decision to broadcast the matches, especially with how close together they have been scheduled.

The idea of playing on a Monday and then on a Friday seems very unfair; it is basically unheard of in the top-flight in the modern era.

For starters, it gives Potter's side no time to rest following the Brentford game and therefore increases the risk of injury within the squad.

West Ham's fixtures in October:

  • Arsenal v WEST HAM - 4 October - 3 pm
  • WEST HAM v Brentford - 20 October - 8 pm (Sky Sports)
  • Leeds United v WEST HAM - 24 October - 8 pm (Sky Sports)

It may force Potter to rotate heavily given the lack of rest, which could put the East London side in a worse position in terms of getting results on the pitch, which they may desperately need if their poor start continues.

It only serves to highlight the point that the Irons need to be active in the final few weeks of the transfer window.

They have made four signings so far, and there are still clear lapses in quality in the squad at the ex-Brighton manager's disposal.

Malick El Hadji Diouf and Mads Hermansen cost a combined £36 million, and Callum Wilson and Kyle Walker-Peters were free transfers.

David Sullivan must bring in top-quality additions to the E20 outfit; otherwise, they may be in huge trouble by the time October comes around.
