West Ham supporters took their pre-match travel plans to extreme measures for Sunday's (10 December) Premier League clash with Fulham.

A group of Irons fans decided to hop on a boat down for the short journey down the River Thames to Fulham's Craven Cottage home.

As footage shared on social media shows, however, the trip did not go quite to plan as it clipped Hammersmith Bridge on its way through.

Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill shared the clip on his Twitter page [10 December] and added: "Boat full of West Ham fans trying to get to Craven Cottage… listen to the almighty crash as it strikes Hammersmith Bridge…"

The West Ham supporters on board took it in good spirits as the boat eventually passed under the bridge and continued on its way.

It is not known, though, whether they still managed to make it to the stadium in time for kick-off - but perhaps it was for the best if they didn't.

This was the second of back-to-back London away games for United, so supporters based in the capital have not had far to travel this week.

And it certainly made for a more straightforward journey than two weeks ago when fans desperately searched for transport links to Backa Topola.

As with any away day, the performance on the pitch can shape the day's experience, and a shocking 5-0 loss certainly would not have helped in that regard. All-in-all, it was a day to forget for those fans.
