Fabrizio Romano drops Ben Johnson transfer update at West Ham United
West Ham are expected to part ways with certain first-team players this summer despite qualifying for Europe with one of them being Ben Johnson.
According to Fabrizio Romano and Jacob Steinberg for the Guardian on 26 June, the Hammers "expect" the 23-year-old to be sold.
Johnson has been at the club since 2007 as he joined when he was just a seven-year-old and he's climbed up the ranks to become a first-team player.
Tough farewell
Johnson has been a one-club man throughout his career and is West Ham through and through so there are no surprises why the fans love him.
He's battled tough times and lengthy spells away from the first-team picture, but has always fought back to be available for the manager.
He's even featured as a centre-back and a left-back and that just shows his willingness to give it all for his club.
Clubs usually do not like selling homegrown players but it seems like it could be the best decision for all parties involved.
It will give Johnson the opportunity to gain first-team minutes elsewhere and can see the Hammers make money off his sale.
If clubs in England buy him, he will count as homegrown so they can charge a premium plus something additional as he's got decent Premier League experience under his belt.
