Expert explains next steps as Millwall lodge complaint against West Ham's Taty Castellanos

Millwall have lodged a complaint against West Ham United forward Taty Castellanos.

The 27-year-old started Saturday's dramatic 2-2 draw at The Den and played the full 90 minutes.

Taty was not on the scoresheet, but he saw his side recover from two goals down at half-time to earn a point on enemy territory.

However, an incident involving the twice-capped Argentina international could cloud the well-earned point.

Taty was accused by opposition goalkeeper Filip Marschall of spitting at him in the 65th minute.

More details have now emerged on the incident, while former Premier League referee Keith Hackett has shared his views exclusively to West Ham Zone.

What's been said about Taty Castellanos and Filip Marschall incident?

Marschall was stood with the ball at his feet when Taty closed him down.

TV footage then cut to Marschall alleging that Taty had spat at him, while signalling to his shirt.

Sky Sports confirmed after the game that Millwall have lodged a complaint.

Speaking to reporters about the incident, Millwall boss Alex Neil said: "I haven't asked [Filip] about it, but it's like anything else.

"I'm sure there'll be footage of it - or not if it didn't happen. I'd be extremely surprised if Filip's made an accusation and nothing's happened. I'm sure the authorities will deal with it."

While no footage has yet emerged of the incident, Hackett has explained the likely process.

"The offence of spitting at an opponent is clearly defined in the laws of the game," he said. "Given the public allegation, the matter will be investigated by the Football Association.

"There is a minimum 22 cameras at a game, plus many others available to investigate this claim.

"If evidence is available and the player is guilty, then he will receive a minimum three-game ban, but likely more."

What did Nuno Espirito Santo say about Taty incident?

Like Neil, Nuno Espirito Santo was also asked for his views by reporters after the game.

"I'm aware of the allegation. I didn't see the images; I didn't speak with Taty," he said.

"I cannot go much further on that, I'm sorry. For me to answer that, I have to see it. I'm going to look at the images. I cannot answer."

Recent examples of similar incidents have carried a six-game ban, but it must be stressed this is still an allegation at this stage.
