David Sullivan will not look to bring Graham Potter back to the Premier League if West Ham sack Julen Lopetegui, according to GiveMeSport.

The online source reported [12 November] that the former Brighton and Chelsea manager is not a leading candidate despite being linked with a move to the London Stadium.

It is understood that there are concerns from within the boardroom over Potter being a risky appointment after struggling to make his mark at Stamford Bridge, being sacked by the Blues in April 2023.

Lopetegui is set to remain at the helm despite the frustrations over the Hammers' current form, with Sullivan not yet ready to make a decision about his future after meetings between the hierarchy.

West Ham United already rule out Graham Potter?

It seems a strange decision to rule Potter out of the managerial race already, especially if there are several question marks being raised over Lopetegui already.

Results and performances have been far from persuasive under the new manager since his arrival this summer, with the Hammers sitting fourteenth in the Premier League after 11 games.

Following the 0-0 stalemate with Everton, the Irons are just five points above the relegation zone, claiming three league wins and five losses, raising serious questions over his future.

Fans are becoming frustrated, and while Sullivan looks set to stand with Lopetegui after appointing him this summer, patience could be wearing thin.

This is why it makes no sense that Potter is not one of the leading candidates to potentially replace him, especially if the main reason is to do with his Chelsea tenure. West Ham cannot afford to be picky.

With the Manchester United job now gone, it remains to be seen whether Potter would jump at the chance if the London Stadium came calling but he would be a superb option.
