David Moyes exit timeline emerges at West Ham United amid Julen Lopetegui talks

West Ham United could still make a decision on David Moyes' future before the end of the Premier League season, according to BBC Sport.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (3 May) that the Hammers have already held talks with former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui over potentially replacing the Scotsman at the London Stadium this summer.

Moyes has repeatedly insisted that he and the club will not decide on his future before the final game of the campaign against Manchester City on 19 May, but there is still a slim possibility the Irons will reach an earlier conclusion.

West Ham's discussions with Lopetegui have been positive so far, but sources close to the club have still insisted that no final decision has yet been reached over Moyes' future in East London.

While everyone in and around the London Stadium has repeatedly insisted that a final decision hasn't been made over Moyes' future, it has been clear to supporters and journalists alike for a while now that the Scotsman's tenure is nearing its end.

Results in this calendar year have been nowhere near good enough and while the 61-year-old deserves plenty of credit for his previous achievements with the Hammers, it feels like all parties could do with a change of scenery.

Whether it will be Lopetegui who takes over the reins remains to be seen, but you have to wonder if it would be better for everybody if a decision was made now rather than at the end of the campaign.

The uncertainty cannot be good for Moyes or the football club and it feels disrespectful to discuss his potential replacements before he has even officially been told he's leaving. If it was set in stone now, the Scotsman could be given a proper send-off.
