Crysencio Summerville quickly put Premier League relegation with West Ham United behind him as he entered the international stage on Wednesday.

A bright spark for Nuno Espirito Santo at the London Stadium, Ronald Koeman selected the winger for his first call-up for the Netherlands and the 2026 World Cup.

That started with a warm-up game against Algeria ahead of the North American showpiece, but ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat.

Summerville actually started the game and looked immediately sharp, catching the eye of much more than West Ham fans.

With transfer speculation already taking over, it was probably refreshing for both West Ham and Summerville to focus more on the football.

It wasn’t only West Ham fans impressed with the attacker, with his home media also loving his 45-minute spell in the first half.

Voetbal Primeur rated Summerville a 7/10 and labelled it a “fine debut”, going onto say that he made a good impression on his first start.

They added: “His agility and speed are a weapon, but he did lose possession dangerously a few times.”

Summerville was also rated a 7/10 by Voetbal International, who handed him their “highest mark” from the entire squad in the defeat.

With the World Cup weeks away, he certainly made a big enough impression to possibly start that first game for his country.

Replaced by Justin Kluivert at half-time, it was always going to be somewhat of a experimental friendly for Koeman and his staff.

Summerville completed 10 of his 15 attempted passes in the first half, still managing to create one big chance from two key passes, via Sofascore.

On top of that, he was only guilty of one unsuccessful touch from 19, carrying the ball over 50 metres.

One blemish on his record for the night was losing possession seven times, but that only shows that he is fearless once on the ball and that creates dangers.

Koeman will want difference makers in his side, those who can take control and change those knockout games at the blink of an eye, and that’s what Summerville is.

It was a positive first start for the West Ham star, and there is certainly more to come this summer.
