Divine Mukasa has impressed since returning to West Ham United on loan this season.

The attacking midfielder came through the Hammers' youth ranks, and is a boyhood West Ham supporter.

He departed for Manchester City back in 2023, and spent time on loan with Leicester City last season.

The 19-year-old then re-joined the Irons in the summer transfer window, agreeing to a season-long loan move.

Mukasa has already scored twice in seven Championship outings this term, with West ham sitting second in the table.

Now, an official statement from the Premier League regarding Man City might make the Hammers hierarchy ponder a full return.

What has happened to Manchester City?

Last week, it was reported that City had learned the outcome of the 115 charges levied against them in regards to breaches of Premier League financial rules.

On Tuesday, the Premier League confirmed that City have been found guilty of all charges between 2009-10 and 2017-18.

An independent commission ruled that City arranged "sham contracts" with several commercial partners, while "relying on sham agreements to artificially inflate the club's revenues and reduce its costs".

The deals were described as a "disguised funding scheme", which totalled £830.69million.

City have continued to deny any wrongdoing, and are expected to appeal against the ruling.

But has an opportunity now been presented for West Ham?

West Ham can take advantage of the chaos

As yet, it is not know what punishment could be awaiting Man City.

Indeed, if there is an appeal, as expected, then it could be some time before we find out what punishment is dished out.

There is one school of thought that Man City will not be extremely reluctant to let youngsters like Musaka leave as they do not what their punishment will be.

But, you can't help but feel West Ham should be chancing their arm about a full return for Mukasa.

For that to happen, perhaps it does rely on West Ham earning promotion back to the Premier League.

There is a chance to show some ambition here, and it is something that should at least be discussed.
