Manchester United star Antony will "surely" miss the Premier League clash at West Ham on Sunday 27 October, Fabrizio Romano has said.

The journalist reported on X [26 October] that following confirmation that Antony has a sprained ankle, the Brazilian will miss out in East London.

Julen Lopetegui is hunting a win over the Red Devils which could see his side leapfrog their opponents in the Premier League table on goal difference.

West Ham must take advantage of Manchester United despair

West Ham have endured a far-from-ideal start in the new era of Lopetegui, and it is hard to deduce who needs a win more at the London Stadium.

It is up for debate whether Antony's expected absence has too much of a positive effect in reality for the Hammers, with the £86m man highly criticised for his performances since arriving at Old Trafford.

For Lopetegui, a win is very much possible but something has to change - it all seemed positive until his side emerged for the second half at Tottenham [19 October] and proceeded to capitulate, losing Mohammed Kudus for several games in the process.

Where wingers are concerned, Crysencio Summerville is anticipated to be handed his chance [Daily Mirror] and must take it with both hands, having struggled for consistent game time since his move from Leeds United.

Manchester United have won just three of their eight league games so far this season and the Irons must take their chance to turn the screw further on ten Hag and his men.
