Alan Shearer and Ian Wright slam one player as West Ham United beat Manchester United

Alan Shearer and Ian Wright both slammed Diogo Dalot as West Ham beat Manchester United 2-1 at the London Stadium on 27 October.

The Portugal international missed a sitter as he failed to open the scoring for his side in the first half.

Shearer believes that it's the kind of miss that will be talked about 20 years later as he should've found the back of the net.

He said on Premier League's half-time show on 27 October at 2:56pm: "We'll be talking about this in 20 years' time. The huge, embarrassing misses. Blooppers. Oh my word. He'll not be wanting to see that again. Absolute sitter. It gets worse every time I see it."

Wright responded: "There's no real excuses there. He's done all the work. Just put that in."

West Ham will take the three points but work still to be done

Dalot's glaring miss was a pivotal moment in the 2-1 victory over Manchester United, not just for what it represented but for how it shaped the game's narrative.

This error, highlighted by Shearer and Wright, kept the scoreline level when Manchester United appeared set to take the lead, potentially altering the momentum.

Instead, West Ham managed to capitalise on their opponent's subsequent lapses, scoring twice to secure the win.

While the performance was far from perfect, with defensive frailties and individual mistakes evident, this result was crucial for Julen Lopetegui.

It provided a psychological boost, proving that despite their shortcomings, the Hammers could still compete against top-tier teams.

This victory, however flawed, offers Lopetegui a foundation to build upon, emphasising resilience and the capacity to exploit opponents' mistakes.
