West Ham attacker Michail Antonio will have ligament rupture and fractures if he is out of action for three months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the Hammers will have to be extremely careful with his return given his age and the severity of the injury.

Claret and Hugh reported on 19 November that he could be out for up to 12 weeks, but since then David Moyes has allayed fears of it being a long-term one.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

"The concerns are for ligament damage so if it is three months that would typically mean ligament rupture and potentially fractures as well.

"The club will have to be extremely methodical with his return.

"However, from what Moyes has said and if that is indeed the case, then it looks like a few weeks out instead of months."

The Hammers will be hoping that the Jamaica international is not out for as long as it was first feared.

They do have Danny Ings in reserve but he's certainly not as good as Antonio and Moyes certainly knows that.

Regardless of how quickly his number one striker returns, there is a very good chance that the Hammers look to sign another number nine in January.
