Vladimir Coufal set for West Ham United contract extension despite rumours

West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal is set to have his contract extended at the London Stadium, as the club have moved to play down rumours of interest in Wolves right-back Nelson Semedo, according to Claret & Hugh.

The West Ham news source has reported that the club have decided to trigger the extension clause in Coufal's contract which will see him remain at the London Stadium for an extra year.

Speculation had emerged [Claret & Hugh, 4 October] that the Hammers would make a move for Semedo as a replacement for Coufal, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season before the latest decision was made.

A reward for his fine form

Coufal has been in brilliant form for the East London club so far this season, notching three assists in seven Premier League games so far, as well as turning in some consistently top-class defensive displays which have helped the Hammers continue their fast start.

The Czech international has been an outstanding servant to the club over the three years since his arrival, and fans will be pleased to learn that a cult hero is set to extend his stay in East London, particularly if he can keep up his performances.
