EFL send Millwall message about David Sullivan ahead of West Ham showdown
Nuno Espirito Santo's men will travel across the water this weekend for the first Dockers Derby in over 14 years.
The two London rivals have played each other just 11 times since the end of the 1980s, with West Ham coming out on top on only three occasions.
Two of those victories, however, have come in the last three fixtures, with Carlton Cole and Winston Reid each scoring in the most recent encounter, which the Hammers won 2-1 on 4 February 2012.
Ahead of this weekend's much-anticipated Dockers Derby, West Ham's ownership has been in the news with Daniel Kretinsky becoming the club's new largest shareholder.
Sullivan's shares have also increased, but will the former chairman be expected to attend The Den on Saturday?
EFL respond to Millwall's request about David Sullivan
Sullivan has stepped down from his duties at West Ham, but remains a shareholder of the East London club and regularly attends home games at the London Stadium.
He's currently the subject of police and Indepdendent Football Investigator investigations after being accused of exploitative and predatory behaviour by several women.
Sullivan categorically denies the claims against him.
According to The Athletic, Millwall have asked the EFL if he'll be at the Dockers Derby on Saturday, but it is understood that the 77-year-old is not expected to make his way to Bermondsey.
Although he's still going to home games, West Ham's landlords the London Stadium have asked him to stay away.
What has Sullivan previously said about West Ham and Millwall rivalry?
Surprisingly, Sullivan has had very little to say about the Dockers Derby during his time as a co-owner at West Ham, largely due to the small number of encounters between the two London clubs.
After the 2009 Upton Park riot, which saw a Millwall fan stabbed amid disorder outside of the Hammers' old home, there was a lot of focus on the behaviour of fans.
In 2011, Sullivan plead with West Ham supporters to not cause any trouble at The Den.
He reminded them that they are "ambassadors of the club wherever they are".
It remains to be seen if there'll be any issues this weekend as the two sides face off for the first time in a long time.
But there's no doubt that the police will have a huge prescence in order to nip anything in the bud before things spiral out of control like they did in 2009.
