David Sullivan may now take action as legal war brews after Daniel Kretinsky latest at West Ham

Daniel Kretinsky is at the heart of yet more West Ham United boardroom drama this week.

2026 has been one to forget at the London Stadium with Karren Brady kickstarting the era by confirming her exit.

Then, David Sullivan stood down from his role as chairman after serious allegations over his treatment of women.

West Ham were then relegated from the Premier League, only further reiterating the mess they find themselves in.

Fast forward to just before the Championship season begins, and all eyes are on a possible takeover.

Amanda Stavely and PCP Partners have made their move, but Kretinsky isn't having any of it.

Why West Ham board mess could turn into legal battle

Kretinsky is putting plans in place to increase his stake.

Staveley had agreed a £150million deal to purchase the Gold family's 25.1 per cent stake in the Irons, in a first step to total control.

But, the Daily Mail has reported in its print edition that Kretinsky has made his move to block that proposal.

Mike Keegan states in the newspaper on 5 August that Kretinsky has lowered his stake by a couple of per cent, allowing him to move for the Gold shares without surpassing 50 per cent control.

That is what could trigger legal action.

Selling to fellow Czech, Jakob Havrlant, it could violate rules set in West Ham's articles, and be unlawful in that sense.

Keegan goes onto say that Sullivan may wish to take action himself, as this ownership battle heads for the courts.

West Ham must not less mess hit them hard

Hammers fans have battled against their ownership for years, and it's only getting worse at the London Stadium.

It's impossible to predict where this latest mess will take them, either.

For now, all that matters is Nuno Espirito Santo and his squad fighting to get West Ham back in the Premier League.

With Jarrod Bowen spearheading the charge, it is certainly possible.

But, it's no surprise given all of this going on behind the scenes that zero new senior transfers have been completed.

Nuno has been given little chance of success really with zero backing, with squad depth a serious issue already.

Let's hope it doesn't hit West Ham too hard on the pitch, but Sullivan is one to watch yet again.
