West Ham should beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Stefanos Tzimas despite claims by Jurgen Kohler.

The Hammers have been linked with a £15 million move for the FC Nürnberg striker, who has scored seven goals in 12 matches in the German second tier.

The Greek attacker has already made his intentions clear, he wants to play in the Premier League one day.

Munich legend Kohler declared that Die Bayern should look at Tzimas as a reinforcement for Harry Kane [BILD, 5 December], saying: “Bayern are missing a back-up for Kane. So I would advise those responsible to look to Nuremberg.

“For whom? For Stefanos Tzimas. He is an excellent striker with good moves and seven goals. A very good performance for an 18-year-old, even in the second division.

“Behind Kane, you cannot buy a top striker even for €50 million. So it would be wiser to get [a younger] talent.”

West Ham need Tzimas goals

The Hammers have struggled to score goals this season, with just 20 goals in 15 Premier League matches so far this season.

Niclas Fullkrug has struggled with injuries since his £27m move, scoring one goal in four league appearances.

Meanwhile, Michail Antonio is expected to be out for over a year with injuries suffered in his car accident on Saturday (7 December) [The Guardian, 8 December].

Danny Ings is not the force he once was, he has scored one goal in nine league matches so far this campaign.

The Hammers' top goalscorers domestically are Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek with four goals each but the next top scorer is right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

They need a clinical striker like Tzimas if they are to get back into contention for the European qualification spots, they are currently six points away.
