West Ham United want ‘great’ Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer in new verdict
Frank McAvennie would be “very happy” if West Ham were to secure the signing of Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.
According to The Times [26 June], the Hammers are interested in signing the United full-back to bolster their right-back options, while Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reports [2 July] that the player has not held any talks over extending his current contract.
The 26-year-old has experienced a mixed spell at Old Trafford since arriving on a £50million deal from Crystal Palace in 2019, as per BBC Sport, and could be about to leave for the London Stadium instead.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “He’s a right back but he can play on either flank. [Vladimir] Coufal is fine for the moment but Wan-Bissaka could play at left-back.
“I think he’s a good player and a great defender, who can overlap. I’d be very happy with that one.”
West Ham United to target Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer
While Emerson and Coufal were first-choice selections under David Moyes, the right-back position has lacked depth for a few seasons now.
Of course, Ben Johnson has also been an option but his game time has been limited at the London Stadium, hence his move to Ipswich Town as a free agent.
Both of the current full-backs have also been linked with moves away, though Julen Lopetegui will be hoping to add to his options, not just find replacements for outgoing transfers.

Many fans believe Wan-Bissaka has not been able to reach the heights of his Crystal Palace playing days since moving to Man United, so a move to the Hammers could offer him a fresh start.
His ability to be deployed on either flank would make him a brilliant asset for Lopetegui in his first season in charge at the London Stadium, though the club will need to look at the price tag before any deal is agreed.
In other West Ham news, Julen Lopetegui may have already hinted at his Hammers exit in a new admission.
