West Ham United v Olympiacos result predicted as Europa League success verdict shared
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham can left the Europa League trophy this season, with a win in their next match against Olympiacos on the cards.
The Hammers host the Greek outfit in their fourth group stage match on Thursday (9 November), having lost the reverse fixture 2-1 last month.
David Moyes’s side remain top of the standings, however, having defeated Backa Topola and SC Freiburg 3-1 and 2-1 respectively.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “I think they will beat them at home. It will be a big blow if they don’t, that’s for sure. Because Olympiacos are not one of the big guns in Europe. I think West Ham have a chance of winning the trophy, never mind getting beat against Olympiacos.
“That’s what you’ve got to aim for. They won the Conference League last season which put them into the Europa League, and they’ve got a chance of winning it, that’s how good they are.
“There will be a big crowd who will get behind the team. It’s not an ideal situation going in after the defeat to Brentford, but scoring goals and some of the football that was on show was tremendous, so more of the same please.”

The Hammers find themselves in the group stages of Europe’s second competition after winning the Europa Conference League last season.
Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen were on target as the East London club defeated Serie A side Fiorentina in the final in June.
West Ham boast six points from their three matches in their current European campaign, level with German club Freiburg.
In other West Ham news, club scouts have been joined by Arsenal and Tottenham in the pursuit of a 10-goal international striker.
