West Ham United v Chelsea injury news as Doctor shares Nayef Aguerd update

West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd may not be back in time for the Chelsea game from his ligament injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has mooted the possibility of him being ruled out for the rest of the season in the worst case scenario, but that is not likely to be the case, as things stand.

However, with him not yet back in full first-team training, he is a major doubt and unlikely to return on 5 May.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham ZoneBrar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

Sounds like an inversion ankle injury with his ankle rolling inwards.

The best case here is a Grade 1 ligament injury which can range from day to day to 10 days while the worst case would be a Grade 3 ligament rupture with associated fracture as well.

Those can be over eight weeks depending on severity.

While it does not seem that extreme until he’s back in first-team training he will continue to be ruled out so he remains a major doubt for the next one as well.

Will Nayef Aguerd return to the West Ham XI?

The 28-year-old has been a starter more often than not for David Moyes’ side this season.

Despite his struggles, Moyes has decided to stick with the Morocco international and should he be back soon, he’s likely to return to the playing eleven.

It remains to be seen if he is match fit to last the 90 minutes or if he’s given bounce games while George Earthy is also expected to miss out.

The Hammers are on course to finish in the top 10 but Moyes may aim to qualify for Europe as well.

In other West Ham news, the club have been handed a major boost in appointing David Moyes’ replacement as a manager has made his future intentions clear.
