West Ham United transfer is cause for concern amid Fabricio Bruno update from Fabrizio Romano

Dan Bardell has shared his concerns over West Ham United mainly signing players like Fabricio Bruno this summer due to being inexperienced in Europe.

Fabrizio Romano has now given his “here we go” seal of approval (28 May) on the deal between the Hammers and Flamengo.

Tim Steidten has been interested in signing the likes of Bruno and Wesley Gassova [Matteo Moretto] from the Brazilian Serie A this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has been left unsure by these potential signings if they are who Julen Lopetegui relies on next season.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “There are risks with every transfer. I think the problem with that type of transfer is that if you are bringing them in to be in your first team immediately, I think that very rarely works.

If you bring them in to develop and offer them a European loan then I think they can become successful. If that’s West Ham’s main transfer avenue then I’d be concerned because I think that there’s a lot that needs re-doing in that squad now with lots of ageing players.

Are West Ham United Brazil links concerning?

David Moyes is gone and Steidten has now taken charge of transfers with Lopetegui becoming head coach rather than manager.

It seems as if he wants to be more experimental and find some bargains in the transfer market as opposed to signing household names.

Although this is exciting and interesting to see these sorts of players moving to the London Stadium, it is a risky move.

At 28 years old, this is going to be the first time that Bruno has played outside of Brazil and there is no guarantee he will hit the ground running.

Even if it takes him the best part of a season to acclimatise to England, he is going to be nearly 30 and running out of time to really improve.

Gassova is another name who has been linked and although he is a younger player, he could take even longer to get used to the division.

It is certainly a risky strategy for Steidten to adopt but could prove to be a stroke of genius potentially.

In other West Ham news, the club have tabled a £9.7million offer for an “unbelievable” attacker.
