West Ham United told to sign Championship star in great value summer transfer
Dan Bardell has urged West Ham United to utilise the Championship in the transfer market after links to Hull City defender Jacob Greaves.
A report from GIVEMESPORT (13 June) has suggested that the Hammers are interested in signing “emerging talent” this summer.
Julen Lopetegui also wants a new centre-back addition and after a great season in the Championship, Greaves is an option for a potential addition.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has praised the division for its quality while backing the Hammers to sign the defender this summer.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “I think the Championship is a great market, people don’t realise how many good players are there.
“I think we might see even more clubs buying from the Championship because there is great value to be had.
“West Ham need reinforcements in the centre-back position so I can understand why they are looking at Greaves and why that one might happen.“
West Ham told to get Jacob Greaves from Hull City
The Hammers need a new centre back after the departure of Angelo Ogbonna and the links away for Nayef Aguerd [Dharmesh Sheth].
With Lopetegui coming in he will want to build his squad in his image to support the style of play he wants to adopt at the London Stadium.
Tim Steidten has taken charge of transfers and it is clear that he is utilising different markets that the Hammers might not have in the past.
With that being said, Jarrod Bowen came from Hull City and has proved to be one of the best signings the club has ever made.

Greaves has been consistently great for the Tigers in the Championship so it is no surprise that he has been linked with a move away.
The Hammers could do much worse than signing him, especially with the fee he is likely to command being less than potentially what a European club might ask for.
