West Ham United told to complete £68m double deal – ‘Wow’

Frank McAvennie has told West Ham to “go and get” Ivan Toney after Brentford decided to slash the striker’s price this summer.

The Hammers are one of the most likely suitors for the England international, according to The Sun, with Brentford now setting the price tag at £50million due to the lack of interest.

Toney has entered the final 12 months of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the Bees now fearing they could lose the striker for free next summer [GiveMeSport].

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Wow. If they could get him for £50million, I’d bite their hand off. £50million for him and £18million for Kante, we won’t need anyone else – that’ll do!

“Sorry, but Antonio is 34 years old now. Ivan Toney would be great for West Ham. I wanted Ollie Watkins but he went to Aston Villa and he’s just been outstanding. I hope they don’t let Toney go elsewhere. Go and get him! What a player he is.

He’s a danger man, puts himself about, holds the ball up, and is everything you want. He can play by himself or with someone beside him. He’s my kind of striker. If they can get him for £50million, it would be a great deal.”

West Ham United to sign Ivan Toney this summer?

Julen Lopetegui is still attempting to put his own twist on the current Hammers squad after signing Wolves’ Max Kilman, Palmeiras’ Luis Guilherme and free agent Wes Foderingham.

The striker position looks to be an area of concern, with Danny Ings and Michail Antonio the two current options to lead the line ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Irons are hoping to strike a deal to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran [Fabrizio Romano], but McAvennie is clearly a fan of Toney and would love to see him at the London Stadium next season.

In other West Ham news, Vladimir Coufal is edging closer to a London Stadium exit with “further talks” held for a replacement.
