West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug surgery update emerges due to calf injury

West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug will be ruled out for multiple weeks if he requires surgery on his injured calf, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the Germany international seemed to be on his way back to full fitness, but he’s still not quite there yet.

A club source has stated that anything is possible for the 31-year-old with surgery also not ruled out, at this stage [Sean Whetstone].

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

It sounded like he was over the calf injury but is now dealing with smaller issues that come with returning to play.

Additionally, he will still be adapting to a new league so the club have to take that into consideration as well.

It sounds like there’s a possibility he will be ready after the break, depending on how he responds to training.

However, if he does require surgery, there’s a good chance he’s out for multiple weeks.

Niclas Fullkrug has struggled since his move to West Ham

It’s not been the smoothest of rides for the German since his move to the London Stadium this summer.

He is yet to start a Premier League game for Julen Lopetegui’s side and the Spaniard will certainly be hoping for more from the 31-year-old striker.

Hopefully, he does not need surgery and is in contention to face Tottenham right after the international break on 19 October.
