West Ham United staff praised after recent developments at London Stadium
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham United have a good midfield following the sale of former captain Declan Rice.
The England international left the London Stadium at the beginning of the recent transfer window, joining league rivals Arsenal.
But David Moyes filled the subsequent gap by signing James Ward-Prowse from Southampton and Edson Alvarez from Ajax.

Attacker Mohammed Kudus also joined from the Dutch giants, much to the delight of former Hammers man McAvennie.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen in midfield. And then there’s Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals. We’ve got a good midfield now.
“Even Tomas Soucek looks like he’s enjoying it, looks like he’s got a smile on his face again. And that’s credit to David Moyes and the West Ham background staff like Billy McKinlay.”
The club’s midfield have been key to their fine start to the new season in all competitions, with the Hammers sitting seventh in the Premier League and top of their Europa League group.

Moyes has usually opted for a combination of summer arrivals Ward-Prowse and Alvarez, Soucek, Paqueta and Bowen in a midfield five this season.
Czech Republic international Soucek has often been pushed forward since Rice’s departure, with Ward-Prowse and Alvarez sitting deep.
Bowen and Paqueta have then appeared out wide, with Michail Antonio leading the line, generating plenty of success for the East London outfit.
In other West Ham news, Moyes must seriously consider selecting one award-winning Hammers sensation after his rapid rise in recent times.
