West Ham United slammed as spokesman reveals Julen Lopetegui sack decision

Dan Bardell has criticised West Ham for the appointment of Julen Lopetegui after a spokesman shared a message that results have to improve.

The Spaniard joined the Hammers in the summer to replace David Moyes but has failed to have a positive impact on the side in East London.

This has seen a spokesman for the club speak out to suggest the Irons’ hierarchy are “100 per cent behind the manager but results have to improve” [Hammers News].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has never been sold on the appointment and believes Lopetegui was the wrong choice at the London Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “I never thought it was an appointment that was a match made in heaven.

Lopetegui has achieved things in the game and isn’t a bad manager but when you think of West Ham fans’ complaints about Moyes, I don’t necessarily think Lopetegui is the natural fit to come in and play swashbuckling football it’s just not what he does.

The results will have to improve quickly, like this spokesman has said, because that is the nature of football, it’s difficult for Lopetegui but results and performances aren’t brilliant at the moment.

Julen Lopetegui sack update shared at West Ham

It has been far from the dream start for the ex-Real Madrid boss whose appointment wasn’t exactly met by excitement from supporters after Moyes departed.

The dream of a manager who will play “The West Ham Way” was adopted by supporters but after being thrashed by Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, their patience is being tested.

It is clear that the club are also starting to grow impatient as they look set to question his future if results aren’t to pick up in the coming weeks.

With a clash against Everton coming up (9 November) before a trip to Newcastle (25 November), it could be a tricky time for Lopetegui in East London.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan has been accused of withdrawing a manager contract offer at the London Stadium.
