West Ham United set for compensation payout as saga boils over – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...
Dan Plumley has insisted that the saga between David Moyes and Tim Steidten will likely end in West Ham paying out some compensation.
The Daily Mail reported on 04 August that Moyes was under serious threat of the sack at the London Stadium with transfers at the height of the problems.
It has since changed with Edson Alvarez arriving from Ajax with more to come, although whichever way it falls, some sort of payout will be needed should someone leave.

“Whichever way it falls, you’ve probably got some compensation agreement that needs sorting out,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“That is interesting in the overall dynamic of bringing somebody in that director role that David Moyes has not probably been used to throughout his career, and that can create tension as well, so it is to be expected.
“Whichever way it falls, you’re going to have to look at some sort of compensation fee, either way, so there will be a financial cost to it as well.”

After losing Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca, West Ham are finally starting to reach some breakthroughs in the market with more new arrivals set.
That should ease the tension between Moyes and Steidten, with a good start to the Premier League season likely to end any talk of someone leaving the club.
