West Ham United pre-season verdict shared after 3-2 win against Premier League rivals Tottenham
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham have made a good start to pre-season, with the Hammers defeating Premier League rivals Tottenham 3-2 on Tuesday (18 July).
Strikers Danny Ings, Divin Mubama and Gianluca Scamacca were on the scoresheet in the five-goal thriller in Perth, Australia.
The victory made it three wins from three so far in pre-season for the club, with West Ham having defeated both Boreham Wood and Perth Glory this summer.

Manager David Moyes oversaw a 4-1 win against the former and a 6-2 win against the latter before the clash with Tottenham.
Ings, Kamarai Joshua Simon-Swyer, Jarrod Bowen and Gideon Kadua scored against Boreham Wood, with Scamacca, Emerson and Mubama netting against Perth Glory, along with a Bowen brace and an own goal from the hosts.
The East London club meet Dagenham & Redbridge next in pre-season, with matches also scheduled against Rennes and Bayer Leverkusen, as per the official West Ham website.
The London Stadium outfit then get their new Premier League campaign underway against Bournemouth on 12 August.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “It really was all youngsters that were playing, like Downes and Potts. So it’s a bit strange. I don’t think Ange (Postecoglou) is too interested in pre-season games, it’s just the fitness that he will be wanting.
“I wouldn’t look too much into it, but it’s always good to beat Tottenham. Whether it’s the kids, women, whoever. It’s been a good start [to pre-season].”
In other West Ham news, one Hammers ace is “pushing” for a move to Saudi Arabia amid “serious interest” in the player.
