West Ham United injury news: Doctor shares Maxwel Cornet update v Newcastle
West Ham attacker Maxwel Cornet is likely to require a fitness test ahead of the Newcastle clash on 30 March, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Ivorian has suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury which has kept him out for over a month.
He missed the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on 17 March and with the international break next weekend, the next game is at the end of March.
Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:
He is expected back for the game at the end of March.
“As he’s been out for a few weeks, he will perhaps require a late fitness test and he won’t play if he doesn’t clear it.
“The timeline would typically mean a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
“If there are setbacks or he doesn’t respond as expected, could certainly be out a few weeks.“
Cornet to return to the West Ham bench post injury
The 27-year-old has faced multiple fitness issues since joining the Hammers back in 2022.
This season, he’s just made one league start and his other four appearances have been off the bench.
Even in the Europa League, all his five appearances have come from the bench and he’s played a grand total of 53 minutes in that competition.

It remains to be seen whether or not he is a Hammers player before the start of next season.
