West Ham United: Frank McAvennie sends message to David Moyes before Everton clash
Frank McAvennie has urged David Moyes to play the same exciting football against Everton as West Ham did against Brentford in the 4-2 Premier League victory.
The former West Ham man was shocked by the difference Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus made to the game, as he confessed he loved watching the attacking football.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie sent a message to Moyes ahead of his return to Goodison Park on 2 March.
“I loved it. For the first time in however long, I actually enjoyed watching it. At 2-1 I thought ‘Here we go,’ but I’m just surprised that Kudus and Paqueta make such a difference,” he said.
“I think we’re still lacking at the back, but David, that’s the way you’ve got to play. That’s the way his teams have got to play. We’re letting in too many goals, but if we can score four then they’ve got the capability there. If you score two, we’ll score three.
“Going forward West Ham have got that, I loved that and the fans enjoyed it. If you go back to the next game and it’s awful again you’d go: ‘What? Why?’ That’s what West Ham can do, I’m not asking for David to change his team.
“Emerson plays so well with Paqueta, they’ve got a link-up, backheels and all that, I love it. I love watching that, I love watching the purest of football and there’s no way David Moyes didn’t enjoy watching that. He must’ve enjoyed it, so please do the same.”
David Moyes needs to keep up at West Ham United
With pressure piling on Moyes throughout this season, largely down to the negative style of play at the London Stadium, the 4-2 victory against Brentford showed what this team is capable of when he lets the shackles off.
A hattrick from Jarrod Bowen and excellent performances from both Paqueta and Kudus were a showcase of the attacking talent Moyes has at his disposal and showed exactly why fans have been demanding more forward-thinking play.
McAvennie’s confession that he loved watching the team for the first time in a while said it all as far as the Hammers are concerned, and if Moyes can keep that up against Everton then he could work his way back into their good books.

It was even said that the players were beginning to become frustrated at the style of play, so not only will the change benefit fans, but the players will be more on the manager’s side as a result.
