West Ham United: David Moyes at ‘Loggerheads’ in new exit verdict at London Stadium

Frank McAvennie has claimed David Moyes could leave West Ham after he was told the boss is at “loggerheads” with the club, although he admitted it was just a rumour.

The former Hammers man did, however, insist that there’s no way Moyes would leave if he led his team to a Europa League victory and qualified for the Champions League as a result.

He went on to claim the supporters should be pleased with how the team has played in recent weeks, as the boss has let his players go and play rather than trying to sit deep.

McAvennie – speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone – also shared his view that the Hammers have a strong chance of winning the Europa League this season.

Somebody told me something yesterday, now it’s just rumours, but he’s at loggerheads with the club. the club’s not happy with him or something, I don’t know,” McAvennie confessed.

I don’t care how much of a West Ham fan you are, if you keep playing like they have in the last couple of games, you’ll be happy as a West Ham fan. All the boys that say Moyes out just wanted him to let them off the reins. I don’t mind him staying if he lets them play.

I don’t know what the problem is with the club, but listen, if he wins the Europa League and gets into the Champions League, there’s no way he’s leaving. Not a chance. And they’ve got a good chance of winning the Europa League.”

Will David Moyes leave West Ham this season?

Despite plenty of rumours and conversations surrounding Moyes’ future after what has been a mixed season at the London Stadium, with plenty of fans calling for his head, particularly during a poor run of form around the new year, the decision rests in his hands.

With the decision seemingly being left to Moyes, he will be able to bide his time before making the final call, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him leave the club upon the end of his current deal after the stresses of this season.

As McAvennie shared, however, victory in Europe for the second consecutive season at the London Stadium would almost certainly tempt him to stay, particularly if the opportunity to manage in the Champions League arises as a result.

However, should he decide to depart, he will surely walk away with his reputation intact, having collected European silverware alongside several strong league positions which have enhanced the public view of the boss.
