West Ham United ace Edson Alvarez re-injury claim emerges after Grade 4 rupture

West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez will be monitored carefully amid chances of a re-injury post his hamstring rupture, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that another setback could see him being ruled out for months which would not be good news for anyone.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury on international duty during the Copa America but has played twice this term in the league.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said:

Based on his timeline, he was out with what was very likely a Grade 4 full rupture in the hamstring.

Best case is that he’s returned without any recurring issues and only time will tell if that’s the case.

The worst case is another major reinjury which can see him being out for months.

The club will be monitoring his situation carefully for the next few weeks despite his return to first-team football.

West Ham must be careful with Edson Alvarez’s minutes

Alvarez started the 3-1 loss against Manchester City and played 77 minutes of the contest.

This season, he’s just played 89 minutes yet and that could be an indicator that he’s not at 100 per cent.

It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be ready to play the full game on the other side of the international break but it’s important the club do not rush him back.
